Rock
A family tradition spanning over 60 years. Serving Cobb, Bartow, Cherokee, Floyd, Polk, Gordon and surrounding counties.
At Kevin Westmoreland Trucking, we know that rock and stone are the structural backbone of virtually every successful construction and landscaping project. From the deep foundation of a new commercial building to the finish of a residential walkway, the quality of your aggregate dictates the longevity and stability of your work. Built on over 60 years of family tradition, we provide the most reliable, high-capacity rock hauling services across North Georgia and the Metro Atlanta area. Our commitment is simple: to deliver the precise type and quantity of rock you need, backed by the integrity and expertise you deserve.
Why The Right Rock Matters
Choosing the correct rock grade is crucial for functionality. Using the wrong type can lead to poor drainage, unstable foundations, and premature failure of surfaces. We ensure you get the best performance by providing clear information and accurate delivery, leveraging our modern MACK fleet to haul up to 18.5 tons per trip, maximizing your site efficiency.
Our Comprehensive Rock and Aggregate Inventory
We supply a full spectrum of rock products, categorized by their primary use in construction and design:
1. Structural Base Aggregates (The Foundation)
These products are crushed stone mixed with fine particles, which allows for maximum compaction, creating a strong, stable layer that is ideal for load-bearing surfaces.
- 3/4″ Crusher Run (GAB): This is our most frequently requested structural material. It consists of crushed stone mixed with stone dust, which enables it to bind tightly when compacted. It is the perfect base layer for new driveways, patios, concrete slabs, and walkways, ensuring a solid, long-lasting foundation beneath any finish.
- 1/5″ Crusher Run: A finer, smaller version of GAB, this material is excellent for leveling a sub-base and providing a smoother transition layer before asphalt or paver installation. Its smaller particle size makes it easier to achieve a precise grade.
- Surge Stone: Characterized by large, angular, and coarse fragments, Surge Stone is an invaluable first layer used for stabilizing extremely soft or muddy ground. It is frequently employed to build temporary construction entrances, providing immediate and reliable ground stabilization under heavy vehicle loads.
2. Drainage and Concrete Stone (Functional Aggregates)
These are “clean” or “washed” crushed stones, meaning the fines have been removed. This characteristic allows water to pass through freely, making them essential for drainage and use in cement mixtures.
- 57 Stone: The industry workhorse aggregate. This universally recognized size (approximately 1/2″ to 1″ in diameter) is the standard choice for mixing commercial-grade concrete, providing excellent internal strength. It is also essential for creating French drains, pipe bedding, and backfilling utility trenches due to its superior permeability.
- 34 Stone: A larger, yet still clean, aggregate often specified for deep drainage beds and specialized utility trench work where a larger void space is required for high water flow management.
- 6 Rock and 89 Stone: These are smaller, finer clean aggregates. 6 Rock is frequently used for careful utility trench backfill and pipe bedding, while 89 Stone is excellent for asphalt mixes and other applications requiring a small, consistent material size.
3. Heavy-Duty Stabilization (Erosion Control)
For projects dealing with challenging natural forces, these larger stone solutions provide immovable defense against water damage and ground movement.
- Type 3 Riprap: This consists of large, dense, and irregular stone pieces designed to interlock and resist high water flow. It is critical for environmental projects involving stream bank stabilization, pond edges, and roadside ditch lining where severe erosion is a concern.
- 3, 4, and 5 Rock: These different grades refer to very large, coarse rocks used primarily for heavy stabilization, constructing stable access roads on construction sites, and building substantial foundational layers in deep fill areas.
4. Decorative and Landscape Stone
These materials are chosen to enhance the visual appeal of a property while offering practical solutions for drainage and ground cover.
- River Rock: Naturally smooth and rounded stones with attractive, variegated colors. River Rock is essential for creating aesthetically pleasing landscape borders, accenting plant beds, and constructing beautiful dry creek beds for water management.
- Pea Gravel: Small, smooth, and rounded stones that are excellent for pedestrian surfaces. Pea Gravel is ideal for walkways, patios, and playgrounds due to its attractive look and soft texture underfoot.
